A beautiful summers day on the beat I grew up fishing with my father and grandfather. Warm (24c) with intermittent cloud. Fished from 2pm to 8.30pm with a break in the Bell.

There were light intermittent hatches through the afternoon of a variety of species. Some mayfly still but mainly sedges, olives and tiny caenis (?). The bottom section and the slow water just upstream of the wooded section most productive on dries. A lovely day on my favourite beat in the world. In the end a parachute Adams took my fish.

No flies showed. Searched with dries and managed two fish. Needed to be very stealthy.

Poor weather conditions with intermittent heavy rain and a gusty wind. Water slightly coloured. Very little fly life evident and only an occasional fish seen rising. Tried a variety of traditional wet flies and nymphs and hooked but lost one fish in the central part of the beat. However, a very nice stretch of river which I hope to return to in better weather.

A pleasant day. A few trout rising but no steady activity. Caught nothing

Lovely stretch of river. Fished in the afternoon and evening, with showers on and off throughout. Numerous fish rising in the slower, deeper stretches, especially to spent mayfly late afternoon. Missed a few takes but eventually managed to net one.

River low and very few fish rising during the day when hot and sunny. However, pleased to catch a handful on a deer hair emerger during a dour afternoon. It was a different story in the evening when the fish started taking the abundant Mayfly and I had another 9 fish in a short time despite being distracted watching the swans giving a piggy back to their 8 cygnets. An excellent day on a lovely beat.

Arrived at 6am and fished 'till 9:30am due to the very hot weather forecast.
Started with a CDC Mayfly as there were spent Mayflies in the grass, had two takes but missed them both, the next rising fish refused the Mayfly but took a Griffiths Gnat first offering, the rest of the fish took a traditional style dry/olive pattern.
Very enjoyable few hours stalking rising trout on a glorious early summer morning, finished off with a coffee alfresco at the Bell.

Unfortunately due to last minute circumstances re house move ! I was un able to go fishing. Having booked it planned it and bought new kit I am very disappointed. I will book again later in the season once the house move is completed.

Plenty of mayflies coming off the river and the trout were taking these. I fished a dry mayfly and managed to rise quite a few but only landed two, 9 and 12 inches
