Please note the catch above was for both days that we were booked on, Friday 4th and Sat 5th.
River level recorded at Ross 0.38 Meters. Weather warm and Sunny, best fishing was early morning/late evening. Whilst the fishing was very good it was like fishing on a building site with the generator noise. I booked both days on the understanding that the generator would only run for up to 2 hours per day. On Friday it started at 9.15am and was only switched off approx 2pm, only then because I rang the Wye and Usk to complain. The lady that answered was very helpful and she got in contact with a Mr Edwards who came down to see us. He was very friendly and helpful and apologised. Don't know how long it went on for on the Saturday as we moved as far away as possible and didn't get to fish where we wanted. There is no way that we will fish that stretch again because of the relentless noise.

WUF note - It does state on our website page that during periods of low water, an water abstraction pump maybe in operation for 2-4hrs per day.

1st July
Lovely stretch but we were disappointed. The upstream section has the best water on the far bank with pools and croys but no swims cleared on the side that WUF have so you can't cast across! Dowstream section again has good water on the far side but it was rammed with anglers maybe 7 or 8 guys over a 200 yard stretch.
Only decent spot was the one croy on WUF side where dense vegitation prevented anyone fishing opposite. Caught 2 barbel both on corn using timebomb filled with corn and 4mm pellets. Good access.

Fantastic days fishing for the three of us never fished Wye before - beyond our expectations. All fish caught on double hair rigged pellet and cage feeder. All fish caught downstream of pump which ran most of the day. Thanks Wye and Usk.

I'm afraid no fish caught. I think water pump on all day did not help, need to invest in hearing aid now! Lovely stretch but not even a bite, still, weather was great thanks.

Great day float fishing pellet. 5 barbel to 7lb 6oz and a couple of chub to 3lb. One bonus wild brownie. Water slightly clearer than down stream seemed to help.

This was my first visit to the Wye and it won't be my last. The White House stretch is in a beautiful setting and provides a variety of swim types - from shallow glides to deeper runs and holes. Although we enjoyed moderate success, it was a blazing hot day with full sun most of the time. The fish seemed to feed better at both ends of the day and when the sun was less bright. We stayed at the White Lion in Ross which was ideal - very friendly and comfortable and run and frequented by anglers. Booking the tickets from the Wye & Usk Foundation was very straightforward and the staff were extremely helpful.

Nice stretch of river. 5 chub and 1 barbel approximately 7lb.
Be wary of nasty snags in the lower section. Although I took three good size chub from here it cost me in tackle. Definitely returning to this beat.

First 500 mile return trip of the season to the Wye and as usual worth it
7am start and 3 Barbel in the first three casts, followed 3 chub. Went quiet until 10:45am when the biggest Barbel of the day was banked (8lbs 11oz) quickly followed by another smaller one and another chub. Then the sun broke through and it quickly became hot and all bites stopped. Not another touch until 8pm when three more Barbel were caught along with another Chub.
All fish taken on pellet and feeder, mainly halibut pellets. All fish in excellent condition. Fish seemed to be in the deeper water farthest away from the car park (Anglers on the far bank also caught).
Fish ranged from 6lbs 3oz to 8lbs 11oz
Back Soon!!!
