Got down to river at 5.20pm thinking that the tail of Rock was most likely place on the upper half with water at 1ft 7" and a lovely colour. Could see another rod was up in the Rock pool so fished around the stones in Bridge with no joy before making my way up. He had just lost a big fish below the stone and was half way down the tail. After chatting I following him down the tail. Right in the spot the line locked up. The first 50m+ run had me thinking it was a big fish. After a dogged struggle a colouring hen of around 12lb came to the net which went back strongly. Finished the pool but not before finding out that at 1ft 7" you can't take the wading line to the right of the stump! Went back home wet but happy.

No Salmon seen or caught but 1 Trout about a pound which was returned from Ty Mawr pool on a spinner and several follows from trout and one lovely chub about 2lb caught on the spinner. Water was very colored but a good height. Tried to fish Rock pool but water to dirty to wade so tried to spin from the bank. Fishing was to difficult due to so much vegetation so couldn't fish it right through.

Well what a baptism of fire, my first ever salmon fishing trip and I had a 6oz brown trout on a spinner, and then whilst fishing one of the deeper runs, I latched into my first experience of a salmon! I have trout fished for some 20 years and always fancied giving it a go, some may say that spinning isn't the way to catch a salmon but WOW it hit it like rocket and was on for a good minute before it pulled free. Despite not landing the fish it made my day that I hooked on at least!
I saw plenty of fishing hitting fry and possible salmon parr all over the deep pools, I stayed until 8pm but I did not see anything of a rise, not sure if the the wind hindered the chance of a rise, there was plenty of fly life just not much moving. Saw some cracking brownies moving in the shallows over the deeper water at a couple of pound each at least.
I have to say the details that have been written by the owner? Or a very knowledgable fisherman are fantastic give you a great picture of the river and tactics on how to fish! Fantastic place very beautiful and I will be back :-)

1'7" and falling on the Llanstephan gauge as dawn broke....a lovely height.
Lovely early morning to lunchtime session, unfortunately the cloud cover was short lived and air temperatures soared to 30+ degrees!
Not quite the day after a rise I was hoping for.
Nonetheless a nice height to fish the Rectory at.

Fished from 4pm till 8.30pm. Water at 1ft 5" falling to 1ft 3" 4ft vis and just under 17 degrees C.
A blisteringly hot afternoon. 30 degrees at 4pm! Started on the faster water on the bottom half but gave up after fishing Mill stream and the neck and middle of Rectory and retired for a drink. Moved up to upper half and no sign of a fish until the sun went off the water. Saw a couple head and tail in final hour (tail of Rock and between the stones in the Bridge pool) and heard another jump behind me when fishing tail of Rock pool. Only excitement was a tightening to a worked fly at the end of the tail of the Rock pool, around the spot I had seen a fish show a few minutes before.

37" hen fish from the Mill Race. The fish took a 1/2 inch Ally's brass tube. Had a strong feeling there was a fish in the lie in the neck, moved it on 3rd cast, caught it on 4th, Great scrap with an 80m run at one point. Didn't cast again and rushed back to car happy to get back home and take over family duties.
