Reasonable conditions at around 2’ on the gauge with a bit of colour, but an air temp that barely got above 4 degreesC all day and a river temp of 9.5 degrees. Perhaps not conducive to tempting an early runner if there are any up here. Fished all day but the downstream breeze didn’t make casting brass or copper tubes and heavy tips easy.
It’s a rare event for me to kill a fish but a couple of trout of 11/2 to 2lb whacked a tube hard today and were hooked well down in the rakers so were destined for the pot.

Gauge at 2’3 and stayed at that height all day. Coloured but fishable.
Another blank with the double hander.
The fish came mid afternoon with a change to a trout rod, swinging spiders below the Gravel catch.
Mostly small.

I started at 10.00am with the gauge at 2’4, just about ok for the fly, but the river lifted slowly again and was carrying quite a lot of colour when I packed up at 4.
Gravel catch and Bridge yielded a few good trout to big tubes but another salmon blank today.
