Colder, greyer and windier - after a very warm spell of weather - far better as sun came out in afternoon - fish then rising. River v. low. Fished flats in front of bridge (couple of trout on small dry flies) and then Euro-nymphed rapids after bridge. Pools/rocks across bend (the other side of beat) had some very big fish (I saw them 'flash' by, wading carefully into there). The Iron Blue Dun provided productive in late afternoon as sun came out - 2 very large fish (trout ?) broke my 4lb tipppet.

Did not stay late into the afternoon - which was a pity - the fish were 'switching back on' as the sun made it warmer later.

Cold blustery wind today , the Trout didn’t show today apart from a nice Chub. Hope the rains come soon to bring the silver tourists up .

A lift of only 4” or so after the weekend thundery weather but the water clarity was good. The catch came from the top of the beat when I briefly put up a trout rod during a sketchy mixed olive hatch mid afternoon. All decent fish of 8-11”.Fished the double hander most of the day.Alas, no evidence of any salmon up here yet.
The local Hostas seem to like the low water though!

All of the fish were caught at the top which is the only part of the beat that is worthwhile at the the moment.Spooky fish in the low water with only 5” on the gauge and the cool downstream breeze meant that there weren’t many rising either side of midday. A few olives, and a sparse grannom hatch but no mayfly seen.
An early finish , but I did spend a few hours fishing small salmon flies through the deeper pools at the bottom .Nothing touched or seen.
