1 Trout, 1 Grayling

Duo and Dry fly, fish ranging between 10” and 15”. Salmon Parr x 4, all fish in good condition. A few March Browns and Olives coming off from 1pm onwards.

What was planned to be a couple of hours reconnaissance on my first visit to Gromain, ready for when ( or if ?) some salmon arrive, turned into a very enjoyable days trout fishing as the light overnight rain spiced things up a bit.
A 1 1/2 fish first cast in the spring pool neck was followed by fish rising to quill bodied emerger patterns well into the afternoon in the Spring pool, leaning Willow pool and the Ferry. Only four fish to the net, but four others came off half way to the net and there were many more takes and misses.
The ‘’other’’ was a salmon parr from the Ferry.
Will have to think about parking options though, because access in wet conditions without a 4 wheel drive could be tricky.

3" on the Gromaine guage and very clear. 2 anglers, six fish, an OK day.

2 Trout, 1 Grayling

Seen numerous young brown trout and including three eels within the shallows.

Tough day today, bright with a strong wind swirling about the river. However managed to pick up a few in the deep pools,
Water clear and very low for the time of year. Will return after the next good spell of rain.
All fish returned.

Nothing all morning, no rises or movement.
Got 5 on high floating dry fly at the head of a large pool...sunshine and no clouds...

Nice day out - two fish on dry fly, the rest on PTN. Nice to see a small salmon smolt also.

Given the conditions I would regard 6 fish from 4 hours an ok result , all took nymph fished klink n sink on a long cast

Glad I went but I knew it would be tough
