1ft 2 inches and running clear. All looked good, but nothing to report. Charles Tweedie had a hen fish about 12 pounds from tail of Spring Pool.

Water in good condition and with plenty of flow today. No rising fish yet again but caught some small trout, grayling and a couple of salmon parr. Saw one salmon briefly! I went to where it was and had a take from it, but it got off. Overall a pretty dead day.

3 Trout, 3 Grayling, 2 Other

No salmon seen all day. River level slightly below ideal fly fishing height, according to our guide, Jonathan Morris. River dropping slightly. Enjoyed my first visit to fish the Wye, with a number of good fly fishing sections.
Waders need to have a good set of studs as the rocks are very slippery
Jonathan Morris was a pleasant, helpful informative guide/ghillie.

Fished the very top of gromain water at the bachawy pool, was falling but still holding a bit of colour looking good for the next few days.

Not a day for trout fishing, this! The river was in flood yesterday and the gauge was down so didn't know how high the river was. Took a flyer and went anyway ... To be honest it was a waste of time... there was not a sign of any fish of any species. Most notably, there was no sign of running salmon. I met a gentleman called Mike and he gave up at lunchtime. I plowed on in the hope, but to no avail. Better luck next time Mike!

Later in the day, the gauge was back on and the river must have been around 2.

One pull in the neck of Spring Pool, and trout of 15 and 12 inches, but that was all she wrote this evening.
