On the cold side for May , no hatches but decided to stick with dries , landed 3 wbt over 3 hours but no significant hatch until 2:30 when I had to leave !. Landed another one then had to make my way home . Wales looked glorious in the intermittent sunshine.

Much cooler day than recently and with showery rain. The occasional fish showing all day on the surface with a consistent hatch of olives. Fish taken at top and bottom of the beat on dry fly and nymph - so a pretty good day all round. Several different techniques used including dry, New Zealand, downstream and upstream nymph. Fish caught on copper john, Weighted PTN, grannom dry fly, small sedge, green Peter.

A few heavy showers followed by a slight rise in temperature led to some small but localised hatches, did not last for long though. However, we made use of this to land 7 trout on dry flies with rest on nymphs - using mostly French leaders but occasionally the duo method. In the afternoon spotted some canoeists who beat a rapid retreat upon seeing us (reported separately to WUF).

A warm and mostly overcast day that promised much but the hatch and rise never materialised. Best fish were caught in the tail of the wonderfully named sewage pool.

Conditions unchanged from Saturday. Warm and not a cloud in the sky. Despite that I enjoyed good sport from 11.30-1pm on a nymph/spider rig, with three nice fish of 17”15”and 12” coming to the net. Flies: Copper John, Waterhen Bloa (x2).
As the temperature rose, the fish went down and so it was perhaps less annoying than it might otherwise have been to find three poachers upstream of the bridge (they left quickly) and numerous bathers above them. Most irritating of all were the mother, two small children and five dogs who swam/waded across my favourite dryfly glide. Let it rain soon please !
