I fished floating line with dry flies. Not a lot of action but overall a good day.

First experience of the reservoir. Seemed pretty full but very calm - no ripple / wind at all. Floating line employed with longish leader smal flies @ Southern end around weed areas. A blank but enjoyed the challenge! Will try again.

Did not have a single take all day, saw about 4 fish rise, the most difficult day's fishing I have ever had. Also please note, any baliffs out there, saw a guy camping overnight at the lake side with a night line worm cast out.

Arrived 9am, coldish with strong westerly wind, frequently gusty. No fly hatch, no fish rising. Pulled wets for 3 hours on the upper end of the lake close to the river mouth and down along the roadside bank. No offers at all, no fish seen and no sign of any other anglers. There is quite a lot of weed growth in the water which frequently mucks up the flies. Left just before noon.

Thought I was the only one booked on the reservoir but another angler was fishing the spot I had earmarked? A beginner on stillwater trout fishing and blanked. Lovely location. Why no more stocking? Fly only - very little litter, unlike the Usk reservoir! Any tips? I hope to be back.
WUF Note: The fishing rights at Talybont are held by a local angling club so there will occasionally be club members there. All day tickets are sold via the Passport.

It has been over 20 years since I fished at Talybont but it is still a beautiful place. The wind still comes down the valley at speed. I fished at the top end and had 3 fish and lost a few more. I had 2 on a Bibio and 1 on a Mallard and Claret. Didn't see many rises but had a great day after not fishing there for so long.
