Once the weather had calmed down and become less squally the fishing improved. Quickly caught 4 all a reasonable size.

The fishing at Talybont Reservoir is hard going. Did manage one small fish about 9 inches long after about five hours effort. Fish caught on a black muddler. Conditions seemed perfect but that was the only fish I touched. Having said that I did see a very big fish (2.5 - 3lbs) cruising the margins which was the highlight of the day. Beautiful surroundings and would visit again.

Very tough day, bright conditions and flat calm. 1 x 1lb brown caught around midday on dry fly. 2 other fish lost and a couple more miss-timed on the strike. Hard fishing but nice weather in a beautiful setting made up for it.

Only ended up fishing for about four hours. A nice spot but little sign of any fish.

Fly fishing only using several several patterns based on research and local recommendations. Not even a single rise to our lures.

First time fishing in the region. Talybont is a great place to fish, but the weather was far too nice for fishing with strong sunlight and only a gentle breeze. I didn't see any evidence of fish life all day. Fished all around the southern end and near the pillars on the west bank. I would really appreciate any local advice on where/when to fish and what tactics to use as I'd like to return and catch something in this beautiful location.
