Difficult conditions, river low and clear, blazing sum. All fish taken trotting corn or meat. Barbel came in the last half an hour as the light faded

Very poor day. No flow. The barbel was in excellent condition, 8 pounds 7 ounces.

Really like this beat despite the tough conditions. Fished the upper section which was ideal in low water but might be a bit more tricky with more water on. Feeder tactics for the two of us between 2 and 7.30pm

Cloudy warm day, river very low, caught on pellet and meat
We did clear and dig out some swims as no much choice compared to last year in the first field, enjoyable day

3 of us fished 6am - 11am then came back on the evening 6pm - 9pm, 5 barbel caught between us using feeder tactics on 8mm banded pellet. Biggest came to 8.8lb.
For 3 people this beat isn't recommended as there are probably 3 pegs to fish on the full beat and a really long walk to the limit of the beat where the pegs are available. I don't think we will return to this one but some big fish to be caught if travelling alone.

Nice to get out and catch a few even if the river doesn't look at its best at the moment. Whenever I fish this beat I can't but wonder why they made the footbridge part way along the beat quite so narrow.

River very low and weather bright this evening. I also probably made a mistake in fishing familiar swims rather than adapting better to the conditions. Anyway, the result was a clutch of insignificant chub and no sign of barbel, whichever bait I offered them.
