Terrible weather - high winds and heavy showers, but hoping it would be better fishing rather than high sunshine all day.
Was not to be. Fishing was slow with just two chub to 3.5 on open ended feeder, 4ft hooks length and pellet. Both fish came during the evening with a cast well down the swim.
Lots of salmon jumping which was great to see. Secluded beat, boat the traffic not an issue and everyone was very polite. Feel this stretch would be better with roving approach, but the banks are very steep in places, so recommend always fishing with a buddy here and within earshot.

Fished from late afternoon to the evening, low water, if fishing from the croy watch our for a big snag immediately below as you face downstream (about 20 out and 8 or so yards from the L bank,) cheers!

Arrived around 5:30am to a beautiful Wye misty morning. Had decided to fish the croy at the far end of the beat first then work my way back during the day. Walked down the "mountain" to the River and all the way to the croy swim then discovered I'd left my bait in the car so had the pleasure of doing it all again! 3 chub in the morning before 10:00am. Two on the stick and pin and one on feeder/pellet. Nothing from the next two swims and I was back in the first field by 3pm. Afternoon was incredibly hot and not surprisingly uneventful. Fish started feeding around 7pm and a further 8 chub (and a very greedy Gudgeon!!!) followed to straight lead and loose fed pellet at about half way across. Another great day on the river although the lack of Barbel was a disappointment.
Canoe traffic was reasonably bearable but three Canoes strapped together with an outboard motor on the back was taking the "proverbial" and tested my patience to the extreme!!!

The river was clearing and also dropping throughout the day, the walk down the track was challenging, however not as much as the return journey up hill, travel light for this venue. All fish caught on feeder and pellets, largest Barbel was 7lb, largest chub was 4lb, thank you WUF for having this beat available.

A first time on this beat and a very nice beat it was. Well, once down the steep bank to the river it is a flat and comfortable walk along the bankside, a very peaceful area to spend a day. The fishing was slow and I could only catch 2 chub despite the river being in good condition for barbel. It was a good colour and was running off slowly.
This is a beat that deserves another trip or two when the river is lower and perhaps enabling me to pick a better swim. 3 were tried through the day and all given a reasonable time to produce but alas, just the 2 chub on feeder and pellet were the result.

Fished mid afternoon to late evening. River very high and brown. Fished at far end of beat on concrete jetty downstream into pool as river was impossible to read. None the less come along way in search of barbel and tried using sweetcorn, pellets and luncheon meat. All large chub 3-4lb caught on ledgered luncheon meat while smaller chub caught by my son on floated sweetcorn. Also caught 2 eels on Halibut pellets. Good to see salmon jumping saw 10 jump including kelt next to us. Nice spot to watch wide variety of birds and canoeists were no problem. Will try again when the river isn't so high.
