Description said some good winter piking spots? I could walk across 95% of the river! Waste of £24.
WUF Note: The extremely dry weather of the summer and early autumn has lead to some extremely low water levels. We ask that you take conditions into account when reading beat descriptions. Middle Ballingham has some good winter pike spots in normal winter conditions.

Both barbel about 6lb caught again at dusk. River very low and crystal clear. Chub to about 4lb. Limited swims due to weed and lack of flow, large clumps of weed drifting down due to weed cutting upsteam ment rolling meat was the only option for the 1st couple of hours.

2 Barbel, 3 Chub

Really hard days fishing with the river being very low with lots of weed getting caught around our lines but still very enjoyable in a beautiful location to fish. We had 3 barbel and 2 Chub. Barbel were all around the 7lb mark and the Chub about 4lb. All fish were caught on pellet.

Frustrating day... took us 2 hours to find the entrance to the beat which is very narrow & steep. Tried many spots & tactics but to no avail though many fish were visible.

We arrived on a glorious late summer morning to be greeted with some stunning scenery spoiled by a couple of cormorants flying overhead....The water level looked low and okish but this was our first visit to the Wye so it is difficult for us to judge the situation.
Great location but apart from 2 good fish we struggled to catch anything other than numerous micro dace and chublets which were there in abundance!! We did notice the presence of some Pike and this could be a good stretch for those who target them.
Our lack of experience was probably the root cause of a limited return. We enjoyed the challenge but would not fancy the walk back up the hill in wet conditions.

1 Trout, 1 Chub, 20 Other

Still a lot of weed coming down. Fished the crib and sunk rodtip below the waterline to catch a few fish. Would not fish here again.

2 Barbel, 3 Chub

River un-fishable with large amounts of weed coming down at all levels of the water. Is someone weedcutting? Gave up and went to the pub.

Difficult fishing with a lot of weed coming down the river. Only a few swims fishable with low water conditions. Found a few fish using feeder/pellet combination.

2 Barbel, 4 Chub

Hot and sunny conditions. Stunning setting and landscape. Varied water types through the beat though swim access is very limited. No fish on this day.

Tough day,river low and clear. 3 chub on feeder plus 2 barbel lost in weed.
Lots of salmon jumping.

3 Chub
