River in need of a good flush through, we managed 2 barbel each but it was hard going in beautiful surroundings.

Weather conditions mild and perfect, rained hard the day before, everything ready for a bumper fishing session! Didn't catch a thing, didn't even get a bite. Tried everything, pellet, meat etc, moved swims and I've fished it before with great success. Nothing, but that's fishing. Will be back to try again.

First visit to this water. Walked the fishery, but water a bit low for most of middle stretch - ended up with all of us fishing the swims below Boys Rock, they looked great but nothing feeding, even at dusk. The solitary fish taken was shortly after we arrived, and that was it.

After losing a heavy barbel early on, a 4lbs 9oz rub a dub on free-lined cheese was most welcome in the coloured, swiftly flowing water below Boy's Rocks. OB, "the barbel botherer" was in the wire swim, from which he took 4 barbel to 8lbs 8oz during the day, also losing a big pike. My best barbel went 6lbs 8oz, a new pb, as was the 2lb eel that insisted on snaffling my bait during the otherwise quiet period in the middle of the day.
Anyone who thinks the banks are steep or inaccessible needs to visit the Bristol Avon below Chippenham. Compared to that abseiling territory, the Wye here is like a day at the beach, and what a lovely day it was!

4 barbel to one rod between 4 and 9lb, no fish on the second rod but an enjoyable day. The only comment I would make is the banks were dangerous when wet. All fish fell to meat on a feeder rig.

Quiet day. Only one fish at 9lb. Water quite low and heavy rain made the banks very slippery.
