First time out on this beat. With a coloured & rising river, I fought for the 3 I had, finding it hard to wade or get through the wooded areas.

Persons of a purist disposition, do not read on! Arrived with excitement & trepidation to christen my new Tenkara Rod, ideal conditions so no excuses. I was grateful to find 2 x out of season 9" Wild Browns & 2 x Grayling one of 8" plus a tiddler. All taken on a orange beaded PTN.

Arrived 7 am grey misty morning which progressed into light rain all day started at the top of the run and had an 8" brownie with my first cast on a tungsten bug followed by 4 grayling of the same size. Moved down river and had a solid take which I thought was a large trout. It was a double hook up with a large grayling of 17" and another 8" grayling my first double hook up and my largest grayling approx 2lb - happy days. Also had my smallest at a tiny 2". Could have switched to drys as there were plenty of rises but kept busy with the bugs can't wait to return.

Nice days fishing, river slightly up but running fairly clear. 9 graying to 12 inches and 2 trout taken. All in top condition. All fish taken on nymphs under indicator. Near all woodland parts of the beat were not possible to fish due to high vegetation!

A lovely river running very, very low.I am sure it will fish great for winter grayling. Can't wait. Used numerous flies dry, wet but to no avail. Will be back.

Warm day with the river very low, most stretches are almost at a stand still, apart from some small flowing riffles. 3 small fish caught, 1 little brownie 5" taken on a small dark wet fly and 2 very small grayling taken on a size 16 black gnat. Some rainfall would benefit the river.
It is as mentioned a superb beat, but please take the point about work needed above the top weir, as most of this section is unfishable and needs clearing.
Excellent service from the booking office.

River low and running clear. Weather warm, overcast with no wind. Very little fly life, considering conditions, and no fish seen rising in morning (11.00 am onwards) but at about 1.00 pm sporadic rises meant that fish could be individually targeted. The grayling - all about 10 oz took dry flies - klinkhammers, olive and black - and one trout, of similar size, took a GRHE nymph. I had to leave in mid afternoon so don't know if there was more activity later in the day or early evening. The beat consists of contrasting stretches of open meadow and very dense undergrowth - being early September bankside vegetation was at maximum height so quite a lot of the water was inaccessible.

River running low, slow and clear which required stealth otherwise the fish would dart into the deeper water.
Weather on the day was warm and humid with lots of cloud cover with occasional periods of warm sunshine.
All fish taken in the faster water using a size 16 sedge pattern, the biggest being a grayling of around eight inches.
Booking was effortless over the Internet.
