Another good day on the Wye. One of the chub had a deformed upper lip, in that most of it was missing, very odd to look at. All of the fish were caught on a feeder and pellet method, river very low despite it raining most of the day. Thank you WUF for making the fishing possible, keep up the good work.

Very disappointing 2 days on this stretch with not so much as a semblance of a bite and saw only 2 small chub rising. Though access to the river is easy with some swims helpfully cut in, much of the stretch is all but unfishable. It should also be noted that it looked as if someone had cut a swim into the section that is not supposed to be fished.

Great days fishing in tough conditions. 5 barbel taken to around the 6lb mark and 2 chub to 3lb, all fish were in beautiful condition and went back healthy. River was low and clear with a lot of weed and leaves coming down. Found 2 swims where I could fish close in, just off the flow to avoid the weed coming down the river. All 5 barbel came from the first swim and the chub from the second although I did spot a large barbel in the second swim which could have been close to double figures. The river was so clear I could watch the fish feed and take my bait in the second swim which was enjoyable. This is the second time I've fished this stretch and it won't be the last!

Excellent conditions for our target species - Barbel. The stretch looked fantastic, but the fish just weren't there. We fished the full length (both sides of the wood) without a bite. No fish were seen either. I managed a small chub right at last knockings, but that was our only bite of the day. Very disappointed.

Tried feeder and waggler, lost one decent chub in weed, numerous dace and other small fish caught but chubb and barbel absent. Fished from 8.30am until 4.30pm before heavy rain finished us off. First attempt at the Wye so next time we will be better prepared.

The WUF description for the top of the beat sounded enticing but after parking at the bottom of the orchard, we found the path through the woods very treacherous and access to the water limited. We gave up trying to find fishable swims, wasting a couple of hours. Eventually, we parked at the bottom of the beat and after a stroll across the field, found a few likely swims down the very steep bank. Massive wads of weed were coming down forcing us to keep the rods very low but the rise in water levels brought fish on the feed. Between 2.30pm and 8pm we had 11 barbel to 7lb and a half a dozen chub to make up for the earlier disappointment. Not an easy section to fish and pretty snaggy.

Clear, low water made fishing challenging. Our sole purpose was to get my brother a barbel as he was over from Dubai. Mission accomplished as he caught 2, one 9oz and one 12oz! He therefore will be back to catch a grown up barbel. I did however catch a 5lb juvenile. We also had 4 Chub to 5lb 4oz. Great day on lovely beat full of wildlife, will be back.
