This was a last minute booking having been unable to finish Thomas Wood beat earlier (see separate report for explanation) and what a great decision it turned out to be. I have a great fondness for this beat having enjoyed several great days on this beat in the past and this turned out to be another one of those days. I arrived to find the water high but dropping and plonked myself in one of the last (downstream) swims on Legg Meadow. First cast, after only 30-40 seconds, the first of 7 fish was hooked. Over the course of the day (I didn't fish solidly but chose to withdraw for lunch) 6 barbel to 11lb were caught along with a decent 4lb chub. A thoroughly rubbish start to the day but a great finish!!

River much lower than of late but banks still very slippery. Ropes made the manhole swim in Legg meadow fishable with care, not sure if these were left by another angler or provided by the fishery.. thanks either way! Fishing was fairly consistent through the day. 2 anglers fished, doubled up in the same swim from dawn to early afternoon when we had had enough of the persistent heavy showers and the banks deteriorated into an ice rink! Managed 5 takes between us with 3 barbel in the 6-9lb range landed. Pellets and pva bags were the chosen approach.
