Another glorious late Autumn day and another day on a low and clear river. Travelling back to our accommodation we were concerned to see that cars were still parked on the venue at 10.00pm on the night before our visit. Either poaching or anglers flouting the 'one hour after dusk' rule. Fears compounded when we were faced with anglers rubbish on the pipe peg, discarded food packaging and drinks cans. So probably poachers! Anyway, the fishing proved very difficult and although we managed 8 barbel bewteen us to 8lb 12oz it was far less productive than on previous visits. Swims well trampled and scattered dropped bait testament to the pressure this stretch now receives. Still a very enjoyable day and the beautiful Wye.

had one small barbel in the morning and that was it for the day . fished the legg meadow but didnt get any
action for the rest of the day. we ought to have been a bit more mobile and moved around a bit but for one reason or another we stuck it out in one swim and hoped the evening would bring the bites. it didnt . but thats fishing. lovely place to fish .

Fished the meadow, had 4 barbel, 10lb 4oz, 9lb 14oz, 9lb 14oz and 6lb. Two good sized chub as well. River seemed in good condition with plenty of large looking pike seen chasing fry out in front of me all day long. Should have packed the lure rod too! King fishers, buzzards and tree creepers were seen regularly and definitely outnumbered the canoes today! Fish came to simple Pellet and small PVA bag tactics fished in the faster water mid stream. Nice to meet Don the bailiff who was very friendly and helpful. A lovely beat, the only improvement as mentioned in the report below would be a little more room for parking if more than a couple of anglers are booked on.

fished the legg meadow , usual pellet/feeder combo .barbel were 6 and 8 lb, but the star of the show was a 6lb 4oz chub
which is a pb on the wye for me. Its a lovely place to fish, nice and peaceful , plenty of wildlife to keep you occupied, but I would comment that whilst access is easy at the pumping station it can only take two cars although a bit further along
you can park on the verge (one car) but its not ideal . We did talk to Don and he explained the issues and efforts are being made to improve parking. The swims are (during lowish water conditions)down steep banks and when wet quite slippery and for those of us of more "mature " years , you would need a team of sherpas to get up and down the bank. that said, there are a couple of swims in the meadow that are just about fishable for the older gent...... will certainly try it again.
