Very nice stretch of river with plenty of well established swims, although some of them are tricky to access. Unfortunately the fishing was quite slow for most of the day, but did pick up in the last hour or so of light. In the end, I managed 6 Barbel with the biggest at 7lb 10oz and a small Chub of around a pound after trying several different swims.
I did come across one man who was fishing without a ticket, but he did apologise and leave when he realised it was a private stretch (I also pointed him towards the WUF website). Maybe putting some signs up at the entrances would help prevent this in the future?
Thanks again WUF for a great day out :)

Arrived early morning. Sun shining. As this was my first visit I checked out length of beat and chose to fish accessible swim about midway in "near bank gulley". Quiet but improved midday. Caught 4 nice chubb and 1 barbel.
Wonderful location in beautiful countryside. Parking in wet conditions would be restricted. Another very enjoyable day. Thank you W.U.F.

First time at How Caple Court, 4 anglers in two cars, did look at parking both cars at the downstram end but decided to use the middle access track which was fine as the ground was dry and hard, not sure what it would have been like wet? In total we managed 22 barbel and 14 chub between us. One angler netting 9 barbel and 3 chub with the next best catch being 6 barbel to over 9lbs on ledgered pellet as well as 10 chub taken on float fished sweetcorn on what was another very hot day. Not too may swims to go at as we do enjoy roving around but all in all another fantastic day on the Wye.

On initial arrival I was rather dissapointed with the accesability of the swims and to be honest, if it were at all muddy or the river were up I would not have risked the clamber down to them. Far too dangerous but luckily it was a sunny, dry day and of the 5 swims available my brother fished one that was at the river level and I chose one which needed the full length of my telescopic landing net handle to reach the water. Had a great day 4 Barbel, largest of which was pushing double figures and at least 8 chub, the largest was a stonker pushing the 5lb mark, the rest were around 3lbs with a couple of 1.5lbs. My brother had 2 Barbel around the 4lbs mark and numerous chub between half a pound to one and a half pounds. Be warned, swims not for the feint hearted.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day on this beautiful stretch of river. I fished from 9.15am to 5pm and I caught eight Barbel and lost one due to a hookpull. They ranged in size from 4lb to 7lb 12oz and caught them throughout the day. The first one fell to Bacon Grill, and the rest all came on Halibut Pellets. I only caught my first ever Barbel 2 days ago (Essex boy who only fishes lakes), so for me this was a red letter day. As this was also the 4th and final day of my fishing holiday and I had struggled for bites in the fast water the previous 3 days, I'm going home on a high. I'm already planning to return asap, so thanks a lot WUF, and thanks to IYCF magazine where I first read about you.

Third time here this season and the third time its had 5 ft plus on! Lovely sunny day though, started at 2pm just as it began to fall and was immediately amongst the fish Barbel and nuisance chublets. Quiet period between 4pm and 6pm as it got very hot then they switched on again. Large chunks of meat pulled in 3 barbelat 9lbs+ and an 8lbs+ in the next 40 mins before my landing net handle broke under the hammering its taken these last 5 weeks. Tried to fix it but it wasn't up to it. No way of landing fish so went home happy and sunburned.

At lunchtime realised rain had stopped. River at 1.5m. Booking first class as normal. On river by 3 to find colour clearing. Fished through till dark. Finished with several barbel around 5 to 6lbs plus one of 9lbs 7oz. Also several chub to around 4lbs - lost 3 barbel in same snag - is it now time to put away the flood gear or is there still more to come?

22 barbel, 4 chub and 2 eels over 2 days. River up and coloured and going like a train. fished from bottom of beat to treeline in as many swims that were fishable. Pellet and meat the baits used with feeder and PVA 6oz weights needed at times. Great fishing as usual. Thanks.
