We fished until 3pm, so a relatively short session. Bright sunshine in the afternoon. All the barbel came in the morning.

The river was fining down. It rained throughout the day making the banks treacherous. Two of the barbel were over 8 pounds

Had to rotate swims as it seemed you would get a quick fish then nothing. Could go back an hour later and nick another.
Hooked something that I had on for 35 minutes! If it was a barbel it was huge. Felt very very heavy. Slowly took line working its way down stream about 50m! Could do nothing to stop it. Would hold in the flow for a while but if I tried to get any line back it would set off downstream again and just take more. I’m guessing a carp or salmon?... If not it was by far the biggest barbel I’ve ever hooked. I was worried I would run out of line!

Arrived quite late in very heavy rain which made a difficult session. I fished a mix of micropelet and crushed boilies in a feeder with a paste wrapped dumbbell on the hook. After moving swims, in an hour of dry weather, I had 2 small chub around 3 lb.
