Hare's ear nymph.River very fast flowing. No fish taken but the river looked promising, perhaps my imitations were not at the right depth? Saw a kingfisher, dipper and wagtails. Some dark insect hatch, but a little cold.

Would definitely recommend taking a stout stick with you as the paths can be quite treacherous. As previous fishers have said, this beat is at the extreme end of the spectrum. Major challenges to get down steep sides to access fishable spots. Unfortunately I did not see any fish let alone catch any in the short time I was there. Lots of very coloured water after recent rain. I have fished it once and I think that's enough for me. I will try a more forgiving beat next time! Nonetheless another fishing experience. Btw, when you drive up behind the pub to start, suggest park near the seat on the edge of the woods. The white posts are very dull now and difficult to spot. A path leads you into the woods and down to the stream.

Last trip of the year to the canyon, river was a light amber colour and flowing high and fast enough for wading to be hard work. What with the usual fallen tree obstacles my leg muscles were complaining this morning! As there were a small number of flies I persisted with paras., landing 3 at 9 to 11". A weighted nymph would probably have been more successful, but I enjoyed catching them at the surface. Hope there is enough water in the winter to clear some of the wood from the pools!!

After heavy overnight rain, the "walk in" proved interesting. The river was still dropping throughout the day. Occasional insect activity had the fish feeding sporadically. A challenging but beautiful river.

I had forgotten just how much time and physical effort it can take to fish a wild stream of this nature, it is truly wild in it's nature. Fantastic! 12 trout all to Nymphs all returned + 1 salmon par.

I have finally joined the Clettwr club and have the bruises to prove it. The river was very low with only the lower pools fishable. Managed two small trout and thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.

Found it tough today, river very low and many pools pretty static now. Managed to hook and land 3 (all about 8"), all from the fastest water at the head of the pools. Of course saw many trout scooting for cover, however invisible I tried to be! Lovely day though.

A ridiculous amount of fun with a 6ft #3 rod. Hats off to those fishing recently who've got double digit hauls, it's hard going down in the gorge. I was pleased with three - two on a elk hair caddis and a very respectable 9" fish on a beadhead PTN while straddling a tree trunk.
