Used small greenwells glory dry flies. These little trout are really quick. Usual plonker walking a dog throwing sticks in the brook despite me being in the water fishing!

All fish caught on a nymph suspended under a Klinkhammer. Lost another 6 or 7. Quite quiet fishing wise, I think the very bright sunlight shining through the trees with very little cover didn't help. Overall amount of debris in the stream has reduced considerably since I fished this stream last year.
I always enjoy fishing this stream.

9 x trout 6-8 inches, size 14 Goldbead Hare's Ear nymph. A slow start today, probably due to a very cold night. Fish were lying doggo on the bottom of pools and no sign of fly life yet. Reached the top at midday in a short shower of snow.

Arrived at midday. Water running very clear. Began by working my way up from the weir to the top bridge, but saw no sign of fish or fly hatch. I then worked my way down the remainder of the beat. I saw a number of fish moving in the deeper pools in the middle of the beat and missed one take on a small Klinkhammer pattern. Tried the lower section of the beat with no success. A few midges around later in the afternoon.

Plenty of fish near the weir but decided to start at the bottom of the beat. Had arrived a little late and shortly after the heavens opened stirring up the mud and making visibility poor. It was a struggle and got no interest but it is a lovely looking little stretch and will definitely visit again.

Three small trout on a black gnat. 2 larger fish hooked and lost in a deeper pool on a nymph.

13 x trout 6-9 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. The little stream is pretty low now. An evening session when the heat of the day had dropped off a bit.

This little stream is rather low but fishable. Took all the 4 to 6 inch browns on dries of various types, Sedges, Humpies, I also had plenty of rises. Noticed a couple of large mayflies flying around, not sure what species they were but looked like E. Dancia.

22 wbt to 9 inches. All caught on a dropper fished under the dry fly. I had a few splashy rises to the dry but no solid takes - goes to show how effective the NZ style dropper can be compared to a single dry. The river was easy to access albeit small and shallow. Improvised casting was required! The deeper pools all held a good number of fish.

25 x trout 6-10 inches on Rusty Klinkhammer. The water is pretty low and clear at the moment but this one seems to be fishing nicely. Note that the Forestry Commission's contractor has just about finished the tree thinning in these woods, which opens up some opportunities in the centre of the beat. Don't expect all the log jams to be gone - this is still a wild stream - but access is easier than it was a couple of months ago.
