There were hundreds of them all day and some of the canoeists were very hostile to me.

Cold wet day was not the best conditions but gave it a go. Enough water to play with but river still low. Access was difficult even with wall walkway and very very slippery underfoot, say no more. No luck this visit but nice to be out. An expert fly fisher would have caught. Being only my second visit it showed.

‘Other’ were 4 dace and about 20 salmon parr (great sign for the future), all taking pink tailed blowtorch nymph usually on dropper. Beat was as low as we have seen it albeit about a foot higher than four days previous. Recent rain (and it rained all this day too) has refreshed the river somewhat but all fish were from faster moving water. Only used the net four times between us!. Fabulous to be back fishing after a dry summer (weather and fishing).

Others were a small dace and a perch of around 8oz; bizarrely on meat!
Had some heavy rain but need a lot more. Tried a number of swims, spent most of my time at the slack but should have put up with the showers and spent more time in the known fast water swims! Ropes advisable for some swims from now on.
