Lovely day on a well maintained beat. One angler lost a barbel early on then rest of day it was all chub, both on trotted meat and groundbait feeder with various hook baits. Chub from 1.5 to 5.5lb, most around 3lb. One angler caught a surprise 1lb+ roach on trotted meat. Lots of canoeists, all friendly and courteous.

Fairly slow not much happening during the day unfortunately had to leave just as it was getting exciting due to 3 hour drive. Most were caught on dry fly, one on nymph and one on streamer and one followed.

Fished lower field. Really only one fishable swim. Tried two others but standing room only, not very level and immensely uncomfortable. Fished 1330-2100 and caught chub steadily on pellet and meat, alongside feeder with wetted pellet. Not a sniff of a barbel. Disappointing. Good chub fishing but not the intended quarry. Could probably have caught one chub a chuck on the float.

A later session Planned to fish in to later evening started at 1.30 pm and straight in to fish on nymphs at the lower end in the 8-12 inch size.
Although river low ,there was some colour in the water and in deeper pools visibility was poor.
Moving up towards bridge and 3 guys were spinning above ,we approached and asked them to leave and a bit of verbal and off they went.
More signage would be good as there lots of people walking the one bank.
A sporadic 20 mins on the drys in the faster water accounted for two nice 2 lbers ,Oliver clink hammer, and that was it,we stayed til 10.pm but disappointed with surface activity.Great hatches of olives and spinners the ducks were having a feast but not the trout.
