Conditions seemed perfect but there was little surface activity despite good mixed hatch of fly. Had to work very hard to find and fool some fish. Expected more activity into the late evening but the evening rise never seemed to really get going. Took a few trout during the day on sunken soft hackle patterns and was able to target the few risers in the evening with single #18 midge parachute. With so few fish moving and only sporadic rises it was difficult to find a regular feeder to target. In the end a few to the net on #18 parachute midge and super long fine leader. Tricky stuff.

River low and relatively clear. Odd clump of rannunculus and can only imagine what it must have been like when it was prolific here. Entrances to swims trimmed which was very welcomed. The fishing wasn't easy but we managed 15 chub mostly in the best way - trotting with centrepins. 10 decent ones and 5 that weren't quite lifters. From a number of swims from top to bottom of the beat. Managed a first in nearly 50 yrs of fishing namely catching an eel whilst trotting!. Not one for the unfit this beat and has the most badly designed footbridge to negotiate. One I would fish again though and hopefully the barbel will show next time.

1 trout returned (c. 6oz). River was clear. Plenty of small fish seen rising, and a couple of larger trout seen.
An amazing beat - so good that we spent the whole day on only half the beat, and we'll be back to try the other half.

Barbel from the lower end of the beat and 5 of the chub came from the top end of beat. Pleasant day until 4pm then the rain came and made the end of the trip wet. Top end of the beat where my mate was fishing had a couple of kids visit his swim with the intention of fishing there until they saw him. They were with parents and left without any problems but don't think they would have permission, opportunistic tourist perhaps.

Nicely overcast conditions all through the day. Fished the majority of the time on 2 swims between Old Wharf and Wyebank which were a bit less snaggy than some other Wyebank swims fished previously. Best barbel over 8lbs and chub over 4lbs. Had a great beer at the Forge Hammer Inn after fishing, well recommended.

Favourable conditions and river looking in fine fettle, good flow. Fish taken on feeder and float using a wide selection of baits, meat, boilies, various pellets and bread. We were looking forward to a productive evening session when a late afternoon down pour rendered the banks rather treacherous so decided to call it quits at 18:30. Enjoyable beat but be aware the parking for the top section is in very close proximity to a continuous bonfire and subject to heavy agricultural machinery.
