Did not fish. Very hot during the day. My brother and I did walk/drive the entire length of the beat during the afternoon, and were surprised to see how few easily accessible fishing spots there are. The easier location is the wood rather than the meadow: but with the river low, and the vegetation dense, we would have found conditions quite challenging. Having resolved to return and fish in the early evening, in the event we didn't come back because sightseeing commitments with partners ended up taking us too far out of the way. Which was a pity.

Did not fish. But my brother and I walked/drove along the entire beat during a hot afternoon (28C) and were surprised by how few accessible spots there were to fish. The wood is better than the meadow in this regard, but with the weather so hot, the river so low, and the vegetation/nettles dense, we would have found the conditions quite challenging. Even so, we had resolved to fish from early evening. In the event, however, sightseeing took us too far away from the area to comfortably get back in time to fish, which was a pity. Over the following three days we went to a private fishing stretch on the middle Wye, and between us caught 15 barbel (three at between 8.5 and 9lbs) and 10 chub (several at 3.5 to 4lbs).

Apart from the heat and high water temperature the floating weed was a problem but eventually managed a barbel each on ledger and pellet, both about 7lbs. Have previously done much better here but a good result considering the conditions.
