great morning hatch but sporadic rise, the heat of the day finished us off by 2pm. Great to be in the usk valley again in Spring. Two of the styles need urgent attention as they are rotten at ground level. all trout on upstream nymph

Caught one on para adams and one on klinkhammer. Missed 2 others (maybe I'm rusty from the winter). I probably could have caught more by nymphing but having just moved to the UK from US, and having fished nymphs all winter there, wanted to stay on top. Beautiful small stream with some nice runs and holes at this water level.

Very hot and very sunny with fish very hard to find. Thought I’d avoided a blank with a decent size grayling at the bottom of the beat but he/she dived under a ledge and broke me.

Very hot and sunny day. Water very clear . Eventually found a rising trout. Got him on a dry Greenwells glory. Length 16 inches, maybe 2lbs. Returned. Later I saw a trout that was bigger. He swam away.

Fished 1830-2030 as it was a lovely, warm evening. Only a couple of tiny fish rising occasionally in the shallow water, took one on a claret klinkhammer and one on a ptn, both only about 4-5 inches. Quite a few splashy rises to the dry from equally tiny fish that didn't stick.
A pleasant evening out - the only one for the bank holiday weekend unfortunately - and the stream is flowing nicely but feels more overgrown than last season, so a couple more stretches went unfished.

Hot sunny day but also one of those days when nothing seems to go right! Tangles, miscasts and not a fish to be seen. Tried everything from deep fished nymphs to dries. The only naturals in any number were hawthorns but nothing rising.
Having said all that it was still an enjoyable few hours especially standing in the cold river while the sun beat down.

Booked on behalf of a French visitor. Left him in the capable hands of Ghillie Glyn. A very warm bright day meant the salmon sport was non existent, but my French friend left thoroughly enthralled by his visit to the Wye.
