Too bright and warm for much today. Barely saw a fish all day and no interest. tried nymphs, klinks and the odd dry in the evening. Fun stretch of river to fish though!

As an aside, at the top pool two teenagers arrived with a spinning reel and started fishing and only left when they realised we were calling to report them.

Fishing was very hard, weather so hot, and around 300 canoes passed the beat!!!!Unbelivable ...for sure last time during w.e. on this stretch of water!

Two small around 10"trouts caught and realesed back. Water level a bit higher than normal, very clear. Lovely stretch of the river. Recommended to anyone

Fished all day, but may be too bright.

Stayed at Pwllgwilym holiday cottages B&B night before , highly recommended , epic breakfast with home made bread ,

The country side was beyond beautiful in the morning , stopped of Dave Morgan’s in Builth Wells for some of his home cured bacon before getting to the beat.

Conditions were perfect for a memorable day’s fishing but fish had other ideas. No response to a Klink and nymph . Switched to a dry as midday approached and the odd olive was coming off the water . Two small grayling snatched at the dry , nothing after that. Fished a team of nymphs and hooked a nice Grayling of around a pound . No surface activity and no hatch.

River was on the high side which prevented wading across to the other bank, two salmon rods fishing at the same time so slightly crowded but we made it work.

Fishing a disappointment but stunning scenery .

Since I live locally and had contributed to a clearing party back in February, I thought it would be good to inspect our handiwork and spend a couple of hours on the beat. The day was perfect and the beat is truly a beautiful stretch of stream but, apart from some fingerling trout or parr, not fish was to be seen. However, the stream is eminently fishable, the water is pristine, so I am sure that as the weather continues to warm the Crai will come to life.

Very bright sunshine made fishing difficult. had 3 rises to a d.h. emerger, landing one trout of 11 inches, lost one and missed the other.

Beautiful day to be on the river but full sun kept things challenging. One good 15" fish to a large grey emerger.

Fresh cock fish 15-16lb safely returned, caught on a cascade.

3 fish caught on spinners/spoons in a 20 minute spell near the dam wall
