Superb day's fishing in excellent conditions. The water was crystal clear and in good flow and the weather was warm and sunny with some cloud. All fish were taken on a beaded hare's ear nymph fished upstrean. The three trout were small bit in great condition and the grayling ranged from tiny to a few ounces but nonetheless great fun to catch. Lovely fishing at Lyepole and well with a visit.

Fished from midday through to 8.30pm and had another very enjoyable day on this stretch. After a slowish afternoon, which was expected with the weather, the fish started to feed well around 5pm. Honours roughly even with one catch of 5 barbel and 5 chub and another of 3 barbel and 5 chub. All caught on feeder tactics using a variety of the usual baits with the best barbel reaching 8lbs and a cracking chub of 5lb 13 topping the chub caught. Many thanks!

The river was very low but the rain on Friday must have stirred a few fish up because I lost what I think was a grilse (or very big trout) in the morning and annoyed a much larger resident fish (quite red) in the early evening.
On both occasions I was fishing a shrimp pattern size 12 in in Gravelly Pool.
A promising start to my season.

First visit to the mighty Wye this season, weather was beautiful, river nice height with a touch of colour. We fished quite a few swims from the croys down to the bottom end which, as mentioned by previous posters has changed quite a bit. We caught from most swims with BH catching 36 chub and 3 barbel and BG trailing in with 11 chub and 4 barbel. A fantastic days fishing with various pellets and boillies catching all the fish.

Nice day. River low but with some colour. Never really found big shoals of fish but caught steadily near to Luggsmouth itself.

Upstream section very limited for swims.
First swim of downstream section produced 3 barbel to 7.4lbs and 3 chub further down. I had 2 barbel and 2 chub plus lost 2 barbel bites on corn, best using time bomb filled with corn. More bites than using pellets.

The river was low, although a little higher than this time last year in the heatwave. Managed to tempt one trout, fin perfect and fighting fit, of around 8 inches on a pheasant tail fished through some faster water. Beautiful, little river and nice pub in Longtown. River banks/access in great condition. Just needed some more water! But it is the height of Summer after all. I will be back for sure. Almost certain I saw a kingfisher as well, which was magical.
