Lovely beat spoiled by dog walkers with dogs swimming in pegs. Numerous cars up and down all day, understandably getting the road ready for the show. I did not realise it was a public byway and after paying over £90 for two anglers expected a bit more peace and privacy.

Road not good if you are of a nervous disposition, tight hair pin to get to lower car park. We drove to end of camp site and dropped kit before taking car back to car park. Still a long walk to get to beat.
Island Pool is first swim on beat, but not clearly marked and having walked past Courtfield beat, could see no indication of where the beat ended. Probably 90% of the beat is unfishable/cannot access the rivers edge. We fished half way along the beat, between 11 and 7pm and dint have a bite between us despite ringing the changes.
Endured 100+ canoeists throughout the day of varying degrees of disruptive behaviour. One canoe overturned as result of water fight which signalled the start of swimming session.
Natural wildlife was good, with a pair of kingfishers seen several times during the day and even a snake deserted the Home Fishery beat, as it was seen swimming across to the other side of the river. Belting hot day, with river level extremely low.

Not much fishable water. Be aware, there are lots of canoes in this area as it is an ingress point. Not many fish. Largest chub about 2lb

Nice beat, found some fish in the fast water. Very slow, all fish caught on swim feeder with pellets. Lots of cars up and down getting ready for the country fair need some rain.

Another wonderful River Wye session. Arrived at 6.15am to another baking hot start. The river looked very low, clear and not great for fishing, but we love the scenery here and the fishing can be very productive. I did the usual of dragging the base of the car along the entrance and nearly ripped off my exhaust! Really needs sorting that bit! The farmer had trimmed back the field but left the high grass along the entry track which would have helped to improve the fishery no end. We started as usual targeting the faster flow areas as there was little flow else where on the beat. Things started slow as expected and it wasn't much before 3pm that the first signs of the barbel feeding could be seen. Things were sporadic but as evening drew in the bites became more frequent and I bagged 8 fish to just under 7lbs and my fishing partner on his first ever trip to the Wye had 3 barbel to 7lb 8oz.
Another great session here and we both look forward to our next installment! All fish taken on CBS River Monster Boilies and Feeder techniques.

Beat:Talybont Reservoir

Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)

First time fishing in the region. Talybont is a great place to fish, but the weather was far too nice for fishing with strong sunlight and only a gentle breeze. I didn't see any evidence of fish life all day. Fished all around the southern end and near the pillars on the west bank. I would really appreciate any local advice on where/when to fish and what tactics to use as I'd like to return and catch something in this beautiful location.
