Mainly fished the Boys Rocks and a couple of hours on other swims on the beat. I must've picked an off day as totally blanked. A pleasant day spent by the river though.

River, low, warm and clear. Chub feeding, the barbel were unpredictable as to what time of day they would feed. No issues with the Foundations service, data provided was excellent and overall, a great two days fishing. Here's to next time.

The hottest days of the year really made life difficult but we did manage to find a shoal of willing fish just above the orchard. 10mm blood worm boilies and fish meal filled feeders brought a short but intense spell of action. Day two proved much harder as we fished swim to swim all the way down. The fallen tree swim had a few flashing barbel showing all afternoon but they would not take a baited hook. In the end I think we did well to catch, but my God it was hard work in those conditions.
Thank you WUF, great service, lovely river.

A "challenging" day on the Usk - a cloudless blue sky, burning sun and very low river. We eventually found a few small trout in the early evening which fell to various spider patterns and the salmon parr also provided some entertainment. Our first time on this beat and we both agreed that we had enjoyed it enough to return when conditions were more conducive.

Teaching my 14yr old daughter to cast, she hooked a fish on a size 16 ally's shrimp which took 15 mins to land on the 9ft 7wt rod. Turned out to be a 4lb chub - not a salmon but a great fight nonetheless!

Early start at first light gave a chub first cast and a further three barbel between 3lb & 6lb by 7.15am. All fell to pellet feeder over hemp. I thought the brighter conditions, coupled with low and clear levels would see bites tailing off but the best of the day, weighing 8lb 13oz came at 11am. Early afternoon saw more canoeists (all were very polite & considerate), but fewer bites so walked the beat trying alternative spots, but no joy. Waited until the shade covered the early morning swim and first cast again. Kicked off with 5lb 5oz chub! Another four barbel came between 7pm & 9.45pm and with a last cast capture ending a most pleasant day. Plenty of other fish showing too, with a large salmon breeching giving the highlight to a memorable day
Many thanks to all concerned at WUF, The upstream stretch is easily accessible and well maintained.

Loads of chub to 2lb, some decent dace, bleak, one nice perch and an eel on the float rod. Pellet and boilie tactics produced a barbel and a missed run. River low and clear, weather hot and bright. This river needs a good flush through before the barbel fishing will pick up. My advice if you're booked on here in the next week would be to pack a float rod and just enjoy catching the other species that are present here in vast numbers but rarely fished for.
