As usual a warm welcome from Tracey and Colin at Swan Meadow, nothing ever seems to much trouble and we always feel at home there.
Early in the week the river was up and coloured and the only catches were on nymphs fished deep. As the water cleared and went down and the temperature rose, fish were taking small emergers. By the end of the week they were readily taking cdc drys of the top in the evening. Most fish were around the pound mark, all returned.
As usual a great weeks sport and great hospitality.

River high and off colour. Conditions not great but good day out. Few small fish seen in slacker margins.

Brilliant setting and promising looking water. Unfortunately still a bit high from rain this week.

Challenging day with high wind and rain, some colour in the water. I caught three wbt, approx 6-8 inches in lovely condition, two on gold head ptn and one on a parachute Adams. Beat is quite overgrown with an influx of Himalayan Balsam in places which could be a problem if left unchecked.

3 Trout

Blank for salmon. The first day I have managed to get for myself for salmon at Goodrich this year, booked a week ago, but conditions were not exactly what I hoped for: pretty high water with a certain amount of debris coming down, although the colour was not too thick and the level dropped as the day went on. It turned out to be hard work. Nothing touched, although one of the other rods had a small fish follow a spinner and I saw one fish move in Vanstone.

Fished hard on the fly all day despite poor conditions. No fish caught but a decent salmon seen at Little Run at 9.00am.

Small grayling caught using Czech nymphing. River was clear and steady pace.

Weather was abysmal, heavy rain and gales for most of the day. Fished nymphs in the morning, missed one take on a hare's ear. Switched to lures when casting anything lighter became impossible. Caught 2 trout, both returned.

Water rose very quickly, plenty of 8" brown trout, netted 3, lost a dozen!

Water coloured up and high after over night rain. Explored the beat but did not fish.
