3 nice trout, 10" to 12" long. The day was cool and showery with a strong wind blowing downstream from about 2pm onwards. The fish were caught during the sunny spells before then. There were quite a few olives hatching with the odd yellow mayfly making a showing.
An enjoyable few hours fishing.

Only fished for 2 hours but saw 1 salmon move in Rock Pool and another below bridge by fallen tree. Water is perfect and expect salmon to be caught in chainbridge area in next few days. Great trout rise at 7pm, best this season so far.

Weather windy and squally so not really ideal for fly fishing. Access good although banks beginning to become overgrown and not possible to walk back to the start point without staying in the water and wading. Bottom very slippery and felt-soled and studded boots plus a wading stick essential. Tried upstream nymphing but no takes and no fish seen apart from a few very small fry. Saw a few Mayfly braving the elements but not really a hatch and no interest from the fish. However a pretty spot and with a warm summer's day there would probably more signs of life and fish.

An attractive and easily accessible pool, but very shallow, much only a couple of feet deep. We were hampered by cool, overcast blustery weather but there was some visual evidence of fish movement. We caught three carp between us and lost another but bites were few and far between. Nothing outstanding but pristine fish. We also caught a few small roach and rudd. The young cattle were rather over inquisitive, you soon get to know the ring-leaders by the numbers on their ear tags!
However an enjoyable day out and we will revisit in warmer weather.

River in great shape. Spent most of day fly-fishing, had several pulls I suspect from smaller fish, eventually caught & released a smallish shad. Spent the last 20 mins on the Flying C and disturbed two salmon towards the lower end of the beat but frustratingly no takes.

1 decent WBT plus 1 very small fish caught on black dry fly in 1st 10 mins then nothing all day. Small hatch of Mayfly but not taking. Tried every pattern but still no joy. Still a nice day on great stretch of river. Highlight was seeing the otter, made it all worthwhile.

The day was very blustery and cool with frequent showers, consequently no real fly life and the fish kept their heads down. Stuck with the dry fly though as it's the most fun way of fishing these streams.
3 trout came to hand, 10 to 12 inches and in very good nick, plus the obligatory long range releases!
Good beer and food up at the Bridge Inn!

Beat:Beacons Reservoir
Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)

Caught three brown trout, two undersized and returned, one kept, 14 inch. There were foreign anglers there using non fly methods, did not see any bailiff. If this is happening then no wonder the fishing was hard going but an enjoyable day!
WUF note - This has now been reported to Welsh Water. Should anglers come across any poaching or suspicious fishing practices, please contact the NRW Emergency Incident Line on 0800 807060. Some areas such as the Brecon Beacons can prove testing for a mobile phone signal.
