Little Willow run of Lower Courtfield at 8.30pm, a 12/13lb slightly coloured salmon took a small black/silver single barbless Flying C midstream on a fast shallow retrieve from 45deg upstream. A very active fish, first time experience of salmon leaping several times well clear of water but hook held and fish released in water and swam off fast.

Arrived to find river at 0.75m and in perfect condition. We both fished hard for salmon for 7 hrs but no sign of them today.
A good hatch of upwings (probably Blue Uprights) ensued at 2pm and quite a few trout were rising to them on the smooth glide above Wood stream. Also increasing number of Yellow May Duns present.
An enjoyable day, forecast deluge fortunately did not materialise. Left with the river just stating to colour up.

I only managed about a hours fishing before the river coloured up but this did provide me with 1x brown trout of approx 1.5lbs from the pool immediately below the top bridge. Not a very pretty thing with hints of "stockie" about it i.e. poor colours and fin quality.

Spotty day like the weather. Little activity until mid afternoon when there was a patch of about an hour when there were a number of fish feeding then nothing much for the remainder of the day.
Probably outmaneuvered by the fish but tried different water heights and types of flies during the course of the morning to no avail. Ultimately caught three fish and lost around four. The fish were taken on a klinkhammer and a wooly nymph. The largest was a pound and a half, the others half that size.
Really enjoyed the beat despite the inclement weather and will definitely return.

2lb Chub taken whilst salmon fishing using fly. River falling slightly though windy and overcast conditions made the day quite miserable. Clearest water this week.

We were 3 people fishing Wyebank/Courtfield on May 8th. We were well greeted and the various pools etc were explained to us by Don. We had one small pike around 4lbs and a small sea trout. No sign of any salmon all day. Saying that we had a great day out.
