What a lovely beat, it was warm and sunny, the river was fast flowing in areas and wading was tricky.

Not a single fish between us, we went through the fly boxes using Nymphs, parachute Adam's, Sedges, Shrimp, Daddy's the lot and not a single hit. We were stalked by a heron who also didnt catch a thing, we didnt see any fish rising despite a few hatches in the afternoon sun. We fished from 09:00 to 16:00 due to a 3.5 hour drive but a bad day on the river is better than a good day in the office.

Fishing:Salmon

Perfect conditions on the water but no salmon seen or caught - sadly I saw way more Goosanders (5) which continue to be a eco-system management issue along with many other factors contributing to the decline of this river. So sad to see...
On a positive note the trout and Grayling were active all day, nibbling away at any variant of salmon fly I chose to present.

well we went up to the beat, set up walked all the way up to the top boundary and started to fish down. fished long and hard for no result or sight of a fish .Got down to the top of the Ferry pool , flicked the fly out to extend the line and bang into a fish . I could not believe it 20ft from the bank . A good scrap and a coloured 8lb cock fish came to the net. unhooked and returned to fight another day.
Fish caught on a home tied single hook Thunder and lighting in a dropper !!!!!!

Arrived at beat and went to hut to tack up. On threading my line through my reel came off, no biggy apart from the fact that the seat had come away from the reel. I carry a small set of screwdrivers so put it back as tight as my fishing buddy could do, but it failed so he had a gillie for the day, he gave me a go in the Willow pool where I had a pluck but no more, nothing seen or caught after that until he caught a salmon in the Ferry pool which I dually did the gilling jobs of netting and returning the fish. Better luck next time for me.
