Nil caught - we had set our heart on pike but met a rising river. Had a heart stopping moment when a large dog otter burst out of the water at my feet as I lifted out a 4 inch brass spoon. Thank goodness I didn't hook it.

9 Chub on bread pellet and cheese paste. River rose 18" during the afternoon so I called it a day at 3.30pm. Way to many leaves in the river even a rod length out.

Spent three hours Trotting maggot on a float. A little slow to start but the fish soon showed up. Plenty of takes but missed the majority. Reasonable sized fish in very good condition. The river was crystal clear, a few salmon on their last legs clearly visible in the runs.

Misty and mild and good water level. A pink gold head shrimp caught the fish (to 14 inches.)

2 grayling about 9" on a Sawyer nymph fished deep. Couldn't find a shoal, if there were any. Could not get through some pools even with chest waders - the farmer says his dad remembers the military scooping gravel out of the river many years ago, and the pools have not filled up again. Unusual day, with the historic Abbey on one side of the river and the army blasting away on exercises on the other!

Low clear water. Had all but one fish in the run in the middle of the beat. All taken on heavy nuymphs. There were fish rising to olives but didn't try the dry. Lost several fish including the biggest of the day. Saw several salmon. Great beat, would go again.

Nice days fishing, water gin clear. Fishing with my brother who had one fish nudging 2lbs and another being the biggest grayling I've ever seen which must have been 3lbs.
All fish caught on bead headed nymphs. Great location, surrounded by lovely countryside, will return!
