Area:Upper Wye

Beat:Ty Newydd

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:2

3 x trout and 4 x grayling all caught on the dry fly, sadly none of the fish were of any size but it was still a pleasure to be out on this stretch of the Wye. All fish were returned to grow on to be enjoyed by others. Very little fly life hatching throughout the day but an olive and green klinkhammer did the trick.

Area:Middle Wye

Beat:Middle Ballingham & Fownhope No.8

Fishing:Coarse

No. of Anglers:2

JB caught 1 small chub and a dace trotting with casters and hemp in the morning and then went on to the feeder with pellets in the afternoon and caught a pb barbel of 9lb 5oz.
RG caught four barbel to around 6lb ledgering with boilie on the hook.
Weather was overcast with intermittent sunny spells in the afternoon.
Overall a nice stretch of water but not too many swims with access down to the water, also be wary of the very steep and uneven walk down to the water from the car park space (a bit of a struggle getting back up the hill with gear at end of a long day).

Early mist turning to bright sunshine. Small trout bit at daddy long legs on 4th cast. Never saw another rise on the river all day. Beautiful setting. Lower beats difficult to find. On arrival you have to call the office to open the gate (instuctions say they will open).
