Area:Middle Wye

Beat:Aramstone

Fishing:Coarse

No. of Anglers:1

River dropped about 18 inches through the day. Fished the lower end of the beat by the cottage, had 12 barbel and 2 chub, fish were about 5-6lb average in good condition. All fish taken on block end feeder filled with 4mm pellet with small and large pellet on the hook. Plagued by chub all day, had to ignore all the tugs and plucks and wait for the barbel. Weather was great so a cracking day, I was the only one there.

Brief session before work. River at 2ft 3" and clear. Ideal conditions for this beat. In V at mouth of Armies Pool a solid take on far side turned into a 10lb hen fish with marbeled gill plates. Went to work happy.

First Barbel session of the year and full of hope out testing new product from Alcedo. River highish and a little coloured. Perfect for Barbel although the favoured lower pool could not be accessed due the high water.
Result was just one 8-9lb fish on meat for a full afternoon and evening session. Heavy fight in very fast white foaming water! Will be back when its a bit lower or will go high for the Salmon.
Thanks to Don as always.

River still high but looked good, fished upstream of the Lugg so water much clearer, fast flowing so only able to fish close in. 1 x small barbel, 1 x chub, 1 x dace and 4 x eels all about 2lb (all on pellet which is a first for me)
Very sunny and hot.

Area:Lower Wye

Beat:Goodrich Court

Fishing:Salmon

No. of Anglers:1

No fish caught. The river was just a foot or two too high. I saw a number of salmon moving especially on the bend in the lower beats. Because of my spinal injuries/operations it was too difficult to get down to the river on the left bank where I fished and too far to walk on the right bank where vehicle access is not allowed. I did meet the bailiff who gave me some advice which was much appreciated.
I have and will continue to fish the Wye and Usk Foundation waters when I can. I do appreciate the amount of effort put in over what must be 10 years by the Foundation. Thank Seth for his advice as I called him before I started fishing.
