The river was high on our arrival and rising, about 6 feet up over summer level, rising to 7 feet during the course of the day. The current was strong as a result.
Sport was a lot slower than previous visits last year at this time. The fish fed only sporadically. That said we still caught 9 barbel to 8lb 12oz and a couple of chub. Bait was halibut pellet fished behind a feeder. A good day all in all.

Hard going, river roaring through and rising during the day but there is nowhere else I would rather be. Teased out 5 barbel (best 8lb 8oz) and 1 chub between us. Looking forward to returning to this beat in July when hopefully the river is less challenging. Thank you WUF.
