A good days fishing again on this beat. Nine fish caught altogether. A few were hooked but lost, and I had many other very quick takes that I didn't connect with. Fish caught in Abernant stream at the bottom of the entrance gate, in Alexander's and at the very bottom of the beat. Most fish caught were small with the exception of one lovely brown trout. (See photo) I fished various spiders with a GH Hares ear on the point.

Catch return is for 3 anglers. Started at the top of the beat as we had had a good catch the day before. River level had dropped to 0.94 m at Erwood and the colour had dropped out from the day before. The pool just above the gate proved once again prolific for brown trout. The upper part of the beat was slower. After lunch I fished the lower part of the stretch and caught brown trout throughout the stretch. Again same tactics as the day before, fished spiders with black bodies with red foil rib. In the deeper water in the lower part of the beat I used a small beaded nymph, tan and black, but still had most fish to spiders. All in all, a very enjoyable weekend.

Catch return is for 3 anglers. The beat fished brilliantly with most fish coming from the upper half of the beat. The pool just through the gate was fish a cast. We fished spider patterns most of the day, black bodies with a red foil rib was the fly of the day. The river was coloured and 1.05 m at the Erwood guage.

Despite generally hot and bright conditions, a great days fishing on an excellent beat. Fish caught in streamy sections and between Stone Catch and Lady Alexanders Catch on various nymphs. There was a small hatch around 10am and a couple of fish were missed on dry flies. Picked up a couple of bits of litter, a beer bottle and a lure box (otherwise the beat was immaculate) and pulled some Balsam.

A bright, hot, dry day on the river. Various methods used - dry fly, wet fly, nymphing (Euro style) and Duo set up.

Nymphing produced a decent trout. Few takes on wet flies (spiders). Also a couple on dry and the duo later on.

All fish safely returned to the water (barbless hooks as always). More fish lost (got off the hook) than landed too.
