Sunny day but a bit of an annoying breeze. Water very low which gave me a chance to explore the lower end of beat that is normally too deep to wade over the rocks…
All caught on nymphs.

Although we didn't catch anything, we had a great day.
I did hook into a small brown trout, but he shook the hook off before I got the net to him.
A beautiful place for fishing

Fishing with a team of spiders hooked up on first cast with a fish that made off with two of my three flies, then hooked a decent trout, that didn’t come to the net because it was in fact a small fry that I’d hooked, which was in the mouth of the bigger fish who let go when he saw the net. Outside of the faster water my flies and leader we’re constantly picking up green algae from the water. Caught a couple of decent grayling on the spiders, and a few small trout on the dry fly.

First visit of the year and the weather for once on my side. Water was low as previously stated but there was enough not
to spoil the day. Tried trad wet flies which got a few pulls but lighting quick which I failed to react to. Decided to change to tight Euro nymphing and once I found the right weight brought two nice Grayling. Picked up a small Trout later in the day
and was happy at the end of the day. River does need some rain to bring it to its best.

Back on the beautiful Abernant beat.
Love this location.
Fished hard for a salmon on fly and spinning, but no takers.
Vicious gusty wind blowing straight down the river. When this eased and the sun came out lots of LDO and March Browns coming off, but fish reluctant to rise.
Put the salmon kit away and got out the #4. Fished a klinkhammer for an hour and managed 5 grayling, largest about 10 inches.
Called it a day when the showers started to get heavy.

Hard frost to begin the day. River very low and clear. Weather dry and mostly bright. No action all day until a hatch at around midday. This lasted for a couple of hours with spells of numerous fish rising mostly around Lady Alexanders catch. Had two bump off on dry fly and missed a couple of other rises. Access very good to entire length of stretch. An attractive section of river with much variation. Group of people briefly appearing on the opposite bank mid-morning to lob stones in the river was unwelcome.
