No luck. Only a couple of fish showing. But not interested.
Another angler showed up twice to fish from the other bank. Said merthyr club access, which isn't correct - see early april catch report. River too deep to cross so the fellow has his story and look of innocence well prepared.
Beat owner may want to know.

Unfortunate the beat seemed empty of fish. We only saw two fish the whole day despite a huge hatch along most of the bottom end of the beat in early afternoon. We saw a heron several times on the beat and locals confirmed the presence of an otter in lower sections. Much of the beat was in accessible due being over grown and it took us a while to figure out how to access the far bank which had the better fishing. Top and bottom ends of the beat seemed in accessible due to over grown banks and too deep to wade.

Very cold wind gusting to 35mph and 6.5C start. Wind whipping up ripples on surface of water. Casting difficult. No rising fish. Persevered with nymphs but no luck on this occasion.

Two on dry March brown and one on a wet version, quite a few missed. All between 1-4pm. Water level was great (although meant didn't cross to left bank) and a lovely beat all in all.
