Lovely evening on the Usk, just an evening ticket. Half a dozen to the net from 1/2 - 1.1/2 lb in size, the same lost IDF the hook. Not much doing in the earlier half of the evening with the Sun still up and glare on the water. They switched on to a solid hatch around 8:30-9:30 then came off the feed as the hatch diminished. Big upright mayfly dry used. Bigger fish found in the downstream half of the beat tucked into the willows sipping at the hatch. Beautiful water, thank you!

Plenty of dry fly action for first few hours of the morning arrived around 8am and Mayfly were emerging constantly. 2 landed 4 lost including a big one! And spooked a couple slipping on boulders, all takes were on a Mayfly emerger. Great morning fishing but was cut short with two families appearing on opposite bank throwing rocks and swimming.

(Evening only, following a very hot day) Nothing doing until about 9pm, when there was quite a good rise, including in the strong stream about 2/3 way down the beat. Lost a big one on a Jingler, landed one of 14" on a Grey Wulff late on. Hard to match what they were taking. I tried to access the big pool at the top of the beat, over the island, but the water became too deep to get up to the good-looking pool at the top.

Sunny warm conditions. A single brown trout around 10” caught on olive May palmer from the slow downstream section. Sadly, fishing was greatly restricted all afternoon and evening due to groups congregated from the public footpath on the rocky beach areas adjacent to the island and fast water.

Plenty of flies and fish about. Beat difficult as very straight so wind more difficult. I saw a lot of different hatches and more mayflies than any other day but fish didn't go for them. Wind difficult and I didn't fish that well tired from previous 2 days fishing- also fish were too selective and I missed a few. Still very enjoyable tricky fishing.

Both fish caught on Mayfly during a midday hatch. Strong downstream wind making spotting and casting difficult but a lovely place to spend the morning.

Tough conditions - gusty and frequent rain showers. Sporadic small hatches of mayfly and march browns but very few rises until late evening. One BT (estimated at around 1lb) hooked in fast flowing water on PTN but lost at the net! 2nd BT (1.5lb) caught off the top with mayfly merger in the last 30mins of daylight just as a few fish were beginning to rise.
