Came down to the river just after lunch and there were a few fish rising, but none taking my klinkhammers. As the afternoon wore on, the rises petered out. Otherwise a beautiful beat.
PS I could not find the catch return book at the camp site?

Rose a fish twice to a dry fly, no offers on nymphs, conditions seemed perfect but hardly any insect life or fish to be seen.

Very clear river fish rising to March browns all fish taken on large klinkhammers

1 Trout, 1 Grayling

Cold afternoon on the river, but two nice trout to 16 inches and a slightly larger grayling. All on a beaded hare's ear.

Only fished for a couple of hours in the late afternoon, water clear but high, nothing showing. One missed take on Adams????

First day fly fishing: great tuition with Shaun Watkins. Dull and windy conditions had a grayling and a brown trout both around the 1lbs. Lost a fish and missed takes, hatch of May browns around lunch time fish didn't come on just a small number was surfacing. Great surrounding and well maintained banks

After a hailstorm (temp 3 degrees) there was an olive hatch and I took 5 on dry flies - small olives. Very cold all day with rain and wind. Fishing v hard as river still running off after rain.

A difficult day chilly and overcast. Sporadic rises of March Browns which accounted for majority of fish on dries. Nymph fishing not very productive. The trout caught were all of a good size 1lb + fish the best being around the 2lb mark would have been heavier but showed signs of recent spawning. Quiet a few takes were missed. Fish were a little reluctant to take hard.

5 Trout, 2 Grayling

What a great beat this is, stunning surroundings, easy access, well kept but still very natural, with nice solid benches along its length, really first rate and obviously full of fish judging by the catch returns. However I struggled today, not sure what, if anything, I was doing wrong but I failed to catch. The river was fairly low and very clear with bright sunshine most of the day, the only cloudy spell came late morning just as March Browns started coming off in quite some numbers along with a few smaller flies, sadly this was very short lived only lasting a few minutes so the trout didn't have chance to respond.
I'll definitely be back for another go.

Low water, clear. Not much of surface activity, got a pair of nice trouts 1.5-2.5lb on wet fly. All returned.
