Really great to be on this challenging but rewarding beat again. Met the owner and she was so helpful and welcoming with great advice. Some tricky wading in parts... I prefer a staff.
Some lovely fish in this beat.

A beautiful scenic beat. Was having one of those days, nothing had risen to my dries, my waders sprung a leak, felt fell off a boot and the zip broke on my bag. Then I bumped into Rachel who put me on to Sean who pointed me in the right direction regards tactics and location. Heeding Sean’s advice I changed to a dry dropper set up and immediately things started to improve but my reactions were too slow. Eventually I got up to speed and after a spectacular battle with much leaping I landed a 18 inch plus grayling. A resplendent cock fish with large flame edged sail. Had to miss out on any evening rise but I can’t wait to return and thoroughly recommend this beat. Thanks again to owners.

Fished from 12 till 7pm. Water temperature was a refreshing 13.8 deg at the start.
Alternated between dries and nymphs, and caught 9 brown trout between 9" and 13" and 5 grayling between 12" and 17". The grayling were measured against my 15" landing net. Not much rising but a mix of 9 trout and grayling came to a dry fly fished around likely spots, with the other 5 on nymphs. Fished were caught in every pool, from the bottom to the top of the beat. Good day.

Another hot and bright day, but water temperature ok (about 16 C) and the fish prepared to rise opportunistically. 6 grayling to 14", and 3 trout to 12", on owner Shaun's generic dry/emerger (14) and mainly on Euro-nymph. I'm sure I could have caught a lot more on the latter if I'd been competent.

A second great day the wading is a little more challenging but worth the effort fish came to a mix of dries and nymphs. The heat still making the fishing challenging duing the high of the day hatches coming off in the evening far better
