The River looked fantastic - unusual for opening day. 3 Barbel to about 7lb. As the afternoon progressed the river calmed down, and although it retained its colour the eddies and creases that were there at 08:00 disappeared. The fish seemed to stop feeding and that was it for the day.
Quick note - the far car park is currently inaccessible due to a build up of flood debris behind the gate.

River falling but still pushing through at considerable pace and coloured from recent rain so made for a challenging day. Mostly overcast with a few sunny intervals sprinkled throughout the day.
A multitude of birds noted - Red kite and buzzard overhead, wren and robin close by. A great fly-past from a heron and literally hundreds of pheasants around all through the day. Pride of ornithological place goes to two beautiful Kingfishers who provided wonderful entertainment - they definitely caught more than me. Birdlife was very enjoyable (other than a cormorant).
Managed to find a fishable seam with some slack water and duly tempted a chub (2.5lb) and a barbel of 5lb 12oz.
Lost what seemed a very good fish in the near side vegetation. Nothing whatsoever I could do to prevent its powerful run to the near side bank and all its submerged shrubbery.
1 Barbel, 1 Chub
