It was windy, and mostly cloudy, but every time the sun did come out briefly fish started rising, and I caught one on a parachute Adams - a beautiful 2lb trout. When the sun was in we couldn’t tempt anything, on dries, nymphs or wet flies.
The other highlight was a very close encounter with an otter.

Sunny day but still cold. A couple of good LDO hatches that brought fish on the take for a few minutes but I had no takers.
Huge caddis hatch all afternoon but not much rising to them.
Had a couple of takes upstream nymphing but was too slow.
Enjoyable day on a beautiful beat.

Used Olive and March Brown dries from 11.30am to 14.30 pm about 1/2 way along beat, wading in about 20ft. Plenty of fish rising just didn't connect to any of them. River had a steady flow.

Approx 0.75lb. Fat and healthy fish. Took a March Brown Jingler. Also lost 2 smaller fish on same pattern. No natural MBs in evidence but there were brief flurries of small olives. Only identified one of them in the high winds. Iron Blue.
Tough gig in the cold wind.
