Ashland once a good accessible fishery is no hard to access due to overgrown foot path and banks. I think it is not really maintained as a fishery anymore.

Evening rise did not materialise. A few grabs at the sedge at about 10pm, but nothing stuck.

Nice day out - beat shared with Ian and we fished early afternoon until dusk. Hatches of large green duns, yellow mays, blue winged olives and the odd mayfly. Intermittent rises throughout the day but fish were willing to come up for small olive cdc patterns which accounted for all my fish. Good evening rise but only right at the death from 9.30pm onwards. Best fish approx. 2lb.

Lovely day on the river but very few insects - one of those days. Still a few fish rising here and there occasionally to midges - winkled a couple out on a size 20 Black Gnat but then ran out of my favourite pattern in the tree-lined banks and they wouldn't look at any others! One of those fly-fishing nightmares, I was running out and should have tied more... doubt it would have produced many more though. A few yellow mays coming off and had two bites on an imitation of those, but not hooked (tried nymph below NZ style and the dropper probably interfered; nymphs had no bites). One last fish on a small CDC caddis shortly before leaving but not much going on in the evening either. Still a lovely day to be out, had a couple of kingfishers zip right past me and the big colony of sand martin in the opposite bank of the downstream end was spectacular! Thanks for another lovely day out

The river was low but the fish rose to mayflies. I only had an elk hair caddis of matching size and colour which the fish were happy to take. Caught 2 (0 taken) and missed a few more takes. Time well spent!

Fished a couple of hours in the monring. Found a few fish rising but couldn't tempt any of them.
