Downstream wind hampered upstream dry fly fishing a bit but still managed go get a few when olives hatched intermittently. Lovely water and great day out.

A great day fishing with fine weather, mostly sunny and 15-16 degrees. Plenty of fly life although fish were being selective and so had to keep changing fly. March Brown worked around 11am in fast water and hooked and lost a good fish. Later changed to Iron Blue Dun and had several fish in the shallow water. Fish moved to deeper water in afternoon when the temperature rose, and were periodically supping small flies - a lot of head and tailing. Small black gnats worked and caught a few fish. Lost 2 very good fish 2lb+.

Dry Fly. Two small trout (6") returned. River conditions good. Access good.
One point. Foolishly left my fly box o the gatepost between the first and second field on the beat. If someone has picked it up, I would be grateful.

2 small trout both caught on Greenwell's Glory spider. Very low water, cool wind and bright sun made for tricky conditions.

Despite being accompanied by the excellent Oliver Burch, we had a tough day with only 2 small trout on a PT nymph #18 in the 1st riffle above the bottom boundary. Saw olives of various descriptions, but only a few. Some rising fish, but only sporadically - unsurprising given bright sun and low water. Saw a large salmon with 2 big fungal patches. In the afternoon, we fished a private beat lower down that had deep runs, and caught 2 14-15" fish on big prince nymphs.

Beautiful sunny day with light wind. Though little sign of fish activity. Lovely looking beat but again access proved extremely difficult and dangerous for much of it.
High bank with very steep incline means there are only a few places to enter the water for wading safely there. So no fishing attempted on the day due to risks.
