Difficult day on the Irfon. Very cold water, low and clear. Didn't manage to catch any grayling today, however, this is one of the best Irfon beats, so I will definitely come back when the weather gets warmer.

1 Trout, 6 Grayling

A cracking day on a beautiful stretch of river, quite warm at times, with a definite feel of Spring in the air. Challenging fishing, but plenty of water to explore – we managed 14 grayling to 10”, and a couple of oos trout (one over the pound). Encouraging for sure, and it was great to see healthy stocks of smaller grayling. Most were caught using small nymphs below an indicator.

The river was quite high and coloured during the morning session at 0.8 on the Cimeri gauge, clarity improved as the day progressed and the river dropped to around 0.73.

Very enjoyable day on a lovely beat. Fishing hard due to clear river. One out of season trout and 5 grayling taken later on maggots and 2 grayling taken on nymphs.

Trotting today, river at reasonable height (0.53 on Cilmery gauge), looked good. Odd small pockets of grayling here and there but had to cover a lot of river. Nothing of any size, largest around a pound.

Absolutely fantastic day out at one of my favorite beats to fish anywhere. Access is great, but without seeming overly maintained or manicured which I admire the owner for. There are different types of water to suit all types of flyfishing.

It was a bit of a tough go for the fishing. The weather has been really cold for the past 10 days or so and I couldn't manage to find the grayling. I landed two OOS brownies which were very lively and safely returned. I can't wait to come back during warmer weather.

Lovely day out in the water, weather was overcast and about 6C. 2 OOS trout from my first 5 casts just below the church on the slow water, both on size 18 silver ptn under dry as indicator. All grayling taken on same fly above the church upto the weir. Also spotted what I think was a salmon laying just above the rapids below church.
