Great beat but very low water in the heat which eventually got the better of us. No fish caught but enjoyable all the same.

An interesting but challenging beat. Despite several bumps and tugs just one trout came to hand. Very little fly life.

Lovely day on this beautiful beat. Very few fish seen and no obvious hatch of note. 1 x 6 inch out of season grayling on olive emerged pattern.

Overnight rain caused the river to rise combined with a billion plus leaves in the river, it soon became unfishable.
We did try to fish after a 2 hour journey but no fish caught.

Upstream nymph fishing New Zealand Style, water quite high but pretty clear. Both fish came at last light - 1 1/2lb and 2lb. We also missed a few earlier in the day. 9lb salmon hooked by F J stayed on for 10 mins, then the hook hold failed. Weather cold.

No fish seen or caught. A rain front went through followed by strong winds, not particularly conducive to fly fishing and the autumnal winds also brought the leaves off the trees - so I caught plenty of them!

Very challenging fishing. Very low water levels. Hardly any rising fish with a strong up stream wind. The only fish I could cast to were at the back of the deeper pools. Wind dropped off in the afternoon and managed two very nice wbt around two pound mark. Two otters on this beat. I will be back next year, a truly stunning stretch of river. All the fish came to nymphs!

Found the river with a bit more flow than a couple of weeks ago but still very clear. Managed to catch a couple of nice grayling around the pound mark on GRHE nymph with a black bead head which I prefer in clear bright conditions. A lovely stretch of water with a rocky bed that I would recommend to anyone but I would take a wading staff next time if I am to avoid another ducking!

After 2 days of heavy rain the river was up about 3ft and colored, it probably would have qualified for a wash off.
However the level was dropping and clearing, so with a little optimism I fished the stretch. The river was definitely in flood. But it was fishable and there were good numbers of Caperer on the bank side vegetation, though few ventured out on to the water. Most of the runs were buried under the water, although the tails of the pools provided some hope, but no fish.
The best way to learn a river is to fish it in all conditions. It is a lovely looking stretch and on that I look forward to seeing in slightly better conditions.
